2003 WPJA WEDDING PHOTOJOURNALISM CONTEST

SMALL GOLD AND SILVER TROPHY CUPS are awarded for First and Second place images from EACH category (except #13 - see 'Best Day's Work' below. Big trophy).

CASH PRIZES AND POINTS are awarded for First, Second and Third place images from EACH category. Points and cash will be given for winning pictures from the categories as follows:

1st Place - 15 points + 15 % of cash from that category 2nd Place - 10 points + 10 % of cash from that category         3rd Place - 05 points + 05 % of cash from that category

30% of the contest money that comes in will go back to the photographers in the form of CASH AWARDS.
60% is transferred to the WPJA advertising budget (to help increase traffic and exposure).

Members with more than 25 total contest winning points (from all contests) earn the distinguished 'Silver Member' title from the WPJA, an Award of Excellence.

The WPJA recognizes the accomplishments of members reaching more than 100 total contest winning points with the 'Gold Member' title.

The WPJA has yet to award a member exceeding 250 total contest winning points with the 'Platinum Member' title.

ADDITIONAL AWARDS TO BE GIVEN:

1. A 2003 WPJA 'PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR' will be announced and THE 'TRAVELING TROPHY' (metal, not plastic) will be awarded to this WPJA member for having the most contest points for 2003. The photographer has their name permanently added to a plaque on the base and gets to keep the trophy for one year.

2. 'PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR' ALSO gets an engraved trophy to keep (see image below)!

'PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR' will also receive the GRAND PRIZE of $600.00 CASH!

Runner up takes $300.00 CASH!

Second runner up takes $150.00 CASH!

These CASH PRIZES are in addition to the CASH awarded from each category!!!

$118.50 was awarded for ONE First Place image to a photographer from the last contest.

3. 'WPJA BEST PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER FOR 2003' will be awarded to the photographer with the highest overall points (combined) from the following portrait categories:

'WPJA BEST PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER FOR 2003' also takes an additional $100.00 CASH and a trophy to keep (see image below)!

4. 'BEST DAY'S WORK FOR 2003' will be awarded to the photographer that takes FIRST PLACE in the 'Multiple Picture Story' category (#13). Also awarded with this is $100.00 CASH and a trophy to keep (see image below)!

More points will be awarded to First (30 points), Second (25 points), Third (20 points) and we are adding 2 Honorable Mention slots to THIS CATEGORY ONLY (worth 10 points each).
