2003 Wedding Photojournalist Association Photography Contest:

2003
WPJA Artistic Wedding Photography / Digital Manipulation:

FIRST PLACE - Bill McCullough / Texas

Photo © 2003 by Bill McCullough

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

This image had great composition and nice framing a good moment in the rear view mirror. The repetition of the hearts makes this an unusual and well seen photograph.

Super composition, nice emotion.

SECOND PLACE - Joe Milton / Oregon

Photo © 2003 by Joe Milton

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

This black and white image was very stunning. The photographer left enough space to give it a great spacious composition.

Very moody yet intimate feel to this picture.

THIRD PLACE - Mark Romine / Illinois

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

An interesting technique where the solid, bright background color adds to the excitement. It views like a movie and a sense of motion is conveyed in the photographer’s choice and placement of images in the series.

4 - Gary Allen / North Carolina

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

The nice composition and body language of the couple makes this image work. The isolated color helps the subjects jump out, but at the same time the color of the street light may have added to the mood.

Thoughtful composition, good direction to the subjects. The result is a photo that gives the sense that no one else exists in the world from the subjects’ point of view.

5 - Eric Francis / Nebraska

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

This image is very elegant. The single eye exposed through the veil makes this photo work. It is however, a little tonally flat and could use a little exposure.

6 - Sue Cunningham / Connecticut

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

Great feeling, nice dash of color in the frame, not too overdone. It really evokes a feeling of serenity to the viewer.

7 - David Beckstead / Arizona

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

The great angle and repetition pattern of the ground makes this image very stunning. The coloring toning neither helps it or hurts it a great deal.

Looks like the cover of a romance novel

8 - George Weir / Pennsylvania

9 - Joe Milton / Oregon

10 - David Beckstead / Arizona

JUDGE'S COMMENTS:

Smart shutter speed choice combined with clean background. A dizzying picture.

10 - Gary Allen / North Carolina
